Perched high above the Tyrrhenian Sea on a secluded cliff overlooking Positano, Villa Treville is one of the Amalfi Coast’s most extraordinary destinations. Villa Treville Positano invites readers inside this iconic boutique hotel, tracing its remarkable journey from the retreat of the Duchess of Villarosa to Franco Zeffirelli’s spectacular private estate and, ultimately, one of Italy’s most celebrated luxury hotels.Renowned film and opera director Franco Zeffirelli transformed the historic eighteenth-century property into his personal dream world, filling its lavish interiors with theatrical design, priceless antiques, and treasured pieces from La Scala and the Metropolitan Opera. Under current owner Govind Friedland, Villa Treville has been further enhanced with hidden pools, cascading terraces, a beach club, a luxury spa, and carefully restored villas, all while preserving its unmistakable character.Co-written by acclaimed travel journalist Nicky Swallow and Govind Friedland, the book combines rare archival photography with insider stories that reveal the hotel’s rich history, eighteen levels of spectacular gardens, and its long list of illustrious guests, including Coco Chanel, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Maria Callas, Rudolf Nureyev, and Liza Minnelli. Villa Treville Positano is an inspiring celebration of Italian glamour, exceptional hospitality, and one of the Mediterranean’s most enchanting hideaways.
